Going on holiday is supposed to be fun, however, when you have small children it can feel like a relocation rather than a holiday.
Having a good flight is essential to a parent’s mental health. There is little worse than arriving at your destination wishing you had stayed at home, and knowing that you have it all to come again on the return journey.
Below are our vital tips to not only survive, but also to enjoy your air travel with kids.
Be Organized – It is important to make sure that you are super organized. If you can’t find something you need you will be more likely to get stressed and will hence become less tolerant. Invest in a suitable bag with compartments which will have a place for everything and keep everything in its correct place.

Food – Only take snacks which you know will be a success. Decide in advance what snack foods you are taking and don’t give them similar foods for a couple of days before, so they are extra special. Be sure to have a good mix of treats, protein and bulk foods. Treats for bribery, protein to stop a hunger meltdowns and something bulking like cracker biscuits which, no matter how much they eat, they can’t make themselves sick!
Provide Simple Entertainment – Do not take anything with parts which could get lost. Do not take anything to which they are too attached. A new toy is often a good idea. To make receiving the toy a little more special you can always wrap it up and give it on the plane as a reward for being good in the airport.
