Cheap travel agents not only offer these services, they also do all the legwork for you. Basically, you decide what you want and the travel agent makes it happen. If you want the best price on an airline or hotel, you may have to go to many different sites to make sure you are getting the best deal.

Even cheap travel agents have the best prices and the best deals right at their fingertips. This could save you a lot of time and some money in addition to trying to keep track of which websites had the best deals and the constantly fluctuating prices that seem to accompany hotel and airplane ticket prices.

You can’t be too organized, the more organized you are the better. If you start to get stress then you will either end up yapping at your kids or they will pick up on it and end up behaving badly. Get yourself a good organizer bag and pack carefully, you should be able to access anything you need quickly and easily.

Choosing your snack food, It is important to pack the correct food for a journey. Hungry children are always hard work ,so make sure that you have a protein snack such as cold sausages. You will also need something which is bulking such as crackers – they travel well and no matter how many you eat of them you can’t make yourself sick. Finally you will need some treats, it is a good idea to choose a treat which will last a little while such as a lolly pop.

How to entertain the kids, it is easy to take a favorite toy to keep a child happy, but if you loose it or it gets damaged you are in for a nightmare. A simple solution is to buy a toy and give it to them on the journey. An extra trick is to wrap it up and then say that they will get a little present on the plane if they are good in the airport. Remember not to choose a present with lots of parts as bits can roll under seats and get lost.

If you consider that your holiday starts when you get up on the morning of travel and try to be in the holiday mood you will probably find the day easier. If you see the journey as tedious then the children will also do so and they will not make the same sort of effort to enjoy it.

Are you taking a trip by plane with your children in the near future?

Think of everything your children might wear, including shoe wear, in the weather you will encounter on your vacation. Make a check list. Sunscreen should be used for sun and snow trips. special snuggly, hair brush, toothbrush, toothbrush carrying case, any special medicated skin creams (bring box with prescription details on it, folding stroller, folding crib, etc.

You should call your local airport to find out the rules for bringing liquids and creams. If you are traveling to another country find out their rules on prescription drugs. Medicine might need to be in its original container. Or you might only have to show the prescription box with the information on it. You don’t want your child’s medicine taken away. Last time I flew you could have only tiny travel size bottles. These should be put in a plastic zip up baggies in case the contents inside explode due to air pressure. Also, all beverages and packages of liquidy foods (yogurt, melted cheese) had to be thrown away at the security point.

Do not pack last minute. Pack early. To keep your children occupied have a variety of activities for them. Each child should have their own backpack with their own activities. This is to prevent squabbling. Remember you will need to keep your children busy in the plane terminal as well as on the flight. Lay-overs are hard on most children, so try to avoid them. Items you might want to pack, exciting new book and magazine, new book on tape with tape recorder for terminal use if other passengers don’t mind if old enough, headsets, Ipod if own one, Mad Libs, dot-dot books, cross word puzzles, mini-games, mini-puzzles, hand held electronic games, little toys, and small stuffed animals.

For extended departures and lay-overs, If you plan on bringing your lap top you can bring a couple of movies your children have never seen. Once at a terminal, I actually saw four children seated on the carpet in front of a laptop quietly watching a movie. With young children you should get aisle seats for easy aisle access. You don’t want to bother other passengers by frequently having to climb over them to go walk the aisle with your child. It’s fine to walk the aisles if allowed. Your child will get energy out. Remember to rotate activities while on the plane so your children don’t get bored. Some parents don’t want to worry about this so they take night flights, hoping their children will sleep. If you do and you have young kids, you can put them in their PJ’s before you board the plane

For day travel, Once you get close to your departure gate you can buy a small box of little treats. I.e. flavored jelly beans or healthy treats. It’s cheaper. If your child’s ears hurt when the plane is ascending and descending they can try swallowing several times during these times. They can also try sipping on some water if they are allowed. Or, if they are old enough, chewing gum may help. Babies can suck on bottles. Talk to your doctor about ways to help. I suggest you do not fly if your child has a cold because of ear problems that could occur. If you plan to fly anyway see your doctor. He/She can prescribe medicine if they think it’s necessary. Lastly, if your child is going to be awake during the flight, for hydration purposes they should drink something while on it.

A few years ago I have had the experience of being a flight attendant for El-Al Israeli Airlines. It was a great experience that had taught me much about life and the human (and especially Israeli) nature, and one of the most important things I had learnt was how to manage your flight as a passenger and make it as convenient as you can. Following are some tips I believe can make a more comfortable flight.

Head start,  make sure to be one of the first passengers to check into the flight, this way you can have better seats to chose from. Choosing a seat, I think that unless you are suffering from prostate problems the window seats are the best you can get. The front rows of the airplane have much less turbulence than the rear ones.  Carry on Luggage, make your carry on luggage as small as you can, but be sure to pack one set of underwear, a couple of books, a pen (for those landing forms) and a toothbrush. Toilet, the best times to visit the toilet is right after take-off, and between meals.

Drinking drink as much water as you can. It will make you use the toilets more often and make more walks as well as prevent you from dehydrating. Alcohol, Although some airlines serve free alcohol, it is not recommended to drink any alcohol during the flight since the airplane air is thin and dry, if you add some alcohol to that you’re on your way to dehydration if not blood poisoning. Trust me, I’ve seen in happen.

Sleeping pills, If you decide to take some sleeping pills during the flight, take a low dosage. sleeping pills have a much stronger effect on you when you’re up 20,000 feet in the air. From my experience passengers who have taken a larger dosage just kept on sleeping after the flight had finished. Travel pillows – a good travel pillow will help you through your flight. The best travel pillows are the bigger and thicker ones, the simple travel pillows you are better off without.

Your relationship with the flight crew. Be nice to the flight crew, respect them and politely ask for whatever it is you want. Do not command the flight attendants or demand things off them, or you will get to their bad side. Flight attendants (like any other person) cooperate better when you talk to their hearts and make them empathize with you.

After landing do not stand up until the “fasten seatbelt” sign has been turned off. Passengers who do stand up end up being crammed by other passengers who didi the same with no ability to get back to their seats for as long as the airplane hauling takes, and that may take up to 15-30 minutes!

For those of us who are lucky enough to travel to far off places on our planet, whether it is for business or pleasure, the flight can prove a nightmare, especially if you suffer from a disability. With more planes being designed to fly further such as the 777ER (extended range), and Boeing developing an aircraft that can fly so far it will not require a hub, so no changing planes, our flight time in the same cramped seat is getting longer.

Some people obviously have the money to fly Business Class or First Class, which gives you more comfort, but for the majority of disabled travellers, we are packed up like freight in economy.

You can start from the point of when you book your flight. The majority of long haul operators will not allow you to book seats in advance, so you can end up being seated anywhere on the day of your flight. The best thing to do here is as soon as your flight is confirmed, is search the airlines web site for the internal seating plan for the aircraft you will be on, and note down the reference numbers for those seats that are only doubles, as these tend to have the most leg room, and are usually situated close to a toilet.

Once you have done that, contact the company concerned informing them that you are disabled, state what your disabilities are, and tell them that it would help your health tremendously if they could reserve the seats you noted earlier.

Another helpful tip when you contact the airline is to ask them for a ‘special’ meal. All airlines now do these, and range from salt free to meat free, fish only to carbohydrate only, etc. You will usually find a list of these on the airlines web site, so check first, if you are unable to find it, just ask them for the list.

The reason you do this is that these ‘special meals’ are handed out before the normal meals, so you finish before everyone else, and do not have to queue up for the toilet, as the majority of other passengers are eating.

If you are looking for a better service on the aircraft, treat the stewards with respect. I always hand them a couple of boxes of chocolates as soon as we reach cruising altitude, this usually ensures I get preferential treatment.

The food that is offered is much better than that of economy class. Free drinks are also available in some flights. Entertainment is also a feature that is better than economy class. You can get audio and video on demand (AVOID). This will be through a display that is built in your seat or by portable DVD players that are available when requested. There are also power sockets for the laptops and internet access is also available.

You will not have to endure the company of first time travelers,which you will encounter in economy class. You will be able to enjoy of benefits of comfortable travel without having the luxury of first class travel. This is especially important for people traveling for business purposes.

There are also entire airplanes that cater to separate business class or first class travelers. The flight rates are cheaper than in other flights since there is no economy class in these flights. There are also various deals that you might get to obtain cheaper tickets to fly business class.

Thus, the advantages of traveling business class in flights are many. Since the journey might be very long and tedious in long distance travel, this caters to the business people. It ensures that they have a stress free journey and are able to handle the pressures of work the following day. You should shop around, search the internet and get the best deal on the ticket that you are booking for the business class in the flight that you want to take.
